Guardian
Oil, oil stick, and watercolor on canvas, 20 x 24 in
Guardian began with a dark navy watercolor wash that naturally formed into the shape of an eye at the center of the canvas. Rather than painting over it, I chose to follow its presence—allowing the piece to evolve around that symbol as it revealed itself. What emerged felt less like something planned and more like something uncovered: intuitive, watchful, and deeply charged with meaning.
Built through layered earth tones and organic movement, the painting holds a grounded yet protective energy. The eye-like form nods to ancient symbols of spiritual protection and warding, while the surrounding textures create a sense of depth that feels both rooted and alive. There is a quiet intensity within the piece, as though it is carrying an unspoken awareness just beneath the surface.
At its center, Guardian explores the power of intuition, energetic protection, and the feeling of being both seen and shielded. It invites the viewer into a space of symbolism and stillness—where awareness becomes its own form of safety.
