The Shape of Stillness

The Shape of Stillness

Oil, oil stick, and watercolor on canvas, 20 x 24 in

The Shape of Stillness explores the kind of stillness that isn’t stagnant, but alive with movement. So far being my most organic piece in my practice with layers shifting and unfolding across the canvas, creating a sense of quiet energy—like nature in a moment of pause that is still deeply in motion. The piece leans into instinct, allowing form and flow to emerge without force. What results is a balance between grounding and movement, where stillness becomes something felt, not fixed.

The Shape of Stillness is about surrendering to what feels instinctive. It speaks to grounding, presence, and the quiet beauty of allowing something to become fully itself. There is a sense of calm within the piece that feels less created than discovered—like returning to something that was always there.
